Edgar Kautzner and his violin have come a long way from his hometown in Melbourne, Australia. Classically trained since the age of five, Edgar has established himself as a seasoned cross-genre session violinist, playing classical, and using his improvisation skills on jazz, pop, funk, rock, bossa nova, and more.
Since moving to Japan in June, 2004, Edgar has appeared on TV with various artists including A.I., The Beautiful Losers, and Meri (MTV, Space shower, NHK, Music on TV), at instore lives (HMV, I-tunes, Disc Union), and performed at the MTV Music Awards 2006, Fuji Rock 2005, Canadian Music Week, Superdeluxe, Yoyogi Gymnasium, Studio Coast, J-wave music garden, Universal Studios, Blues Alley, Yokohama Bay Hall, among many more venues. Edgar regularly plays with the J-POP diva A.I., and is also a band member of the Tokyo-based folk-rock group, The Beautiful Losers. Edgar also regularly gives classical concerts.
Always having a passion for the stage, Edgar had won places at various violin competitions by the age of 10. He was an active participator in youth orchestras for over 11 years, touring Canada and America, and performing with the Melbourne Youth Orchestra at the prestigious Banff International Festival of Youth orchestras.
Shortly after completing his Associate Diploma of Music (Violin), Edgar was chosen for the honour of performing a solo concerto in the Melbourne Concert Hall in front of an audience of 2500. A few years later, he joined the Victorian Concert Orchestra as deputy concertmaster, and later moved to Japan in 2004.
